Documenting motherhood, childhood & the magic in between Photographs that feel like a time capsule of the life you’re living right now.

hi there

thanks for stopping in!

Hi, I’m Courtney, photographer, storyteller, and the eye behind Poppies & Pines Photography.

At 30 years old, I experienced the kind of loss that changes how you see time. I was widowed far earlier than anyone should be. Years later, I walked through another quiet season of loss that shaped my heart in a different way and changed how I see the moments we live inside every day.

That is why I photograph the way I do.

Italy has quietly shaped the way I see the world. There is something about the pace of life there that stays with you. People linger. Light moves slowly across old walls. Everyday moments feel meaningful without needing to be arranged or perfected. It reminded me that the most beautiful stories are already happening right in front of us. That way of seeing carries into how I photograph families now. I am always looking for what feels honest, lived in, and already sacred before anyone realizes it is.

I am drawn to the quiet in between moments. The way your child reaches for you without thinking. The soft laughter from another room. The feeling of being together in a season you do not yet realize will someday feel distant and sacred.

Originally from a small rural town in New Jersey, I now call Aledo, Texas home. I am endlessly inspired by the huge skies, the golden light, and the stories unfolding around me. Whether we are on a dusty front porch, chasing sunset in a field, or documenting newborn snuggles in your home, I am there to help you hold onto what matters while it is still yours.

Let’s make something meaningful together. 🤍

I can’t imagine doing anything else

The core of my business is I shoot what I feel. I want you to look at my images and feel something. Feel the joy, the laughter, the love…The human connection is something to be cherished. I love to capture natural organic emotions through prompts and candid’s. What I like about photographs is that they capture todays little moments, that become tomorrows memories.

joyful things

My sessions are meant to feel like a breath of fresh air. Easy, unhurried, and full of joy. Whether we are chasing your barefoot toddler through the grass or sitting together on the porch as the evening light settles in, the goal is always the same. To let your family simply be yourselves.

There are no stiff poses and no pressure to perform. I guide you gently when needed, then step back and watch the moments unfold naturally. The laughter, the movement, the way your child reaches for you without thinking. The pieces of this season you will want to remember long after it has changed.
